CHENNAI: PS Srijan Group, a joint venture between PS Group and Srijan Group based in Kolkata, has announced the launch of its operations in Chennai and its plans to establish a world class shopping mall and a premium residential apartment block.
Shopping mall
Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Pradip Chopra, Chairman, PS Group, said the project was coming up in Velachery. The shopping mall would be over 3 lakh sq.ft. and the residential apartment block 1 lakh sq. ft. The investment would be Rs. 125 crore.
Other projects
A few other projects had also been signed up in Chennai as joint ventures with respective land owners, Mr. Chopra said. These included a 9 lakh sq. ft. housing complex at Padur on the Old Mahabalipuram Road and a 5 lakh sq. ft. housing complex in Perumbakkam, next to the Tamil Nadu Infotech Park at Siruseri.
Besides the group was coming up with a 13.5 lakh sq. ft. shopping mall on Avanishi Road, in Coimbatore, Mr. Chopra said.
Mr. Chopra said the group had completed 80 landmark buildings in the last two decades and had entered into 100 property collaborations.
Two real estate companies from Kolkata have joined hands to build shopping malls and residential buildings in Tamil Nadu, as it sees a huge demand spin-off from IT and manufacturing investments in the state. PS and Srijan groups from the eastern metro on Wednesday announced a three-lakh-sq ft shopping mall and a one lakh sq ft residential apartment block at Velachery in Chennai through their joint venture, PS Srijan.
The JV has also drawn up plans for Coimbatore, where it expects to build a similar set-up a shopping mall and upmarket residential apartment. It is also looking out for land at Madurai and Trichy — two other tier-II cities attracting significant IT investments.
PS Group CMD Pradip Chopra told reporters in Chennai on Wednesday that company preferred to collaborate with other players for such projects. The JV in turn has tied up with landowner Paramount Builder for the Velachery project. The companies have signed up two anchor clients — Westside and Cinemax for the Velachery mall project.
The company has also signed up two more residential projects in Chennai — a housing project at Padur on the IT corridor, and another housing complex near Siruseri IT park.

when will this project start? there’s no serious work going on at the site. When is it expected to complete, esp the shopping mall?

We are commited to deliver both Commercial(Grand Mall) and Residence(Grand Residence) on time.We are hopeful to start this mall operational by october 2010 as per our commitment with retailers and flat owners.We are throgh with all the approval from all government bodies.Our basement work has alaredy started any body can go and check the progress any time.

have anyone booked apartment in PS Srijan Velachery. how about the ground water ( I was told by a broker that it is salt) .
What is the best price to ask .They are saying that completion in 2010 .
