Cheap Calls to India -LINQ

JUST AN UPDATE. THIS SERVICE IS TOTALLY SCREWED NOW. I THINK THEY GOT MORE CUSTOMERS NOW AND SERVICE IS DEGRADING NOW. WILL NOT ADVICE ANY ONE TO TRY LINQ NOW

It has been almost 3 years since i started using Reliance India call to make calls to India. Every one knows how Reliance revolutionized the indian telecom industry and its a accepted fact that Reliance made calling to india cheaper than any other Long distance call provider. Recent Airtel entry in to US for providing Long distance calls to india only did good to millions of folks living abroad. Not only did Airtel provide more options, they managed to reduce the per min charges to 7.9 Cents/ minute from 11.9 earlier.

So whats this article about. Well, i just thought i would recommend to you a New Phone service to india which is cheaper than Reliance or Airtel. Here we go

LINQ:
I accidently came to know about LINQ when i was trying to find other alternate ways of calling india for cheap. Their rates are 5.9 Cents per minute to india. Other features are

They have a website where you can manage your account, do a recharge online, view balances, reports etc.
Minimum recharge allowed is $5. Payment gateway is thro ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND which is good and secure.
One good feature of LINQ is they dont charge tax for your purchase. If you recharge for $5, you get $5 worth of calling time. No additional tax (40 cents) is charged like RELIANCE or AIRTEL does. Not sure how linq manages the taxes part.
The net effect is you get 30 minutes more calling time when compared to RELIANCE or AIRTEL.
You can use this service from UK and US tool free.
Payment is accepted in 4 currencies included US dollor and EURO

I know many people out there including me spending atleast $60- $75 per month for calling India. If you are often calling the same number in india say your parents number, then LINQ has a good plan to save you money. If you have internet at home in india, then you can just order a LINQ PHONE by a paying a one time fee of $20 and they would do the setup for you. This would enable you to make unlimited calls to india for a one low monthly payment of $10.

This is good scheme for particular those who dont have computer at home .They can just get internet connection from BSNL for Rs 250 and start using LINQ PHONE to receive calls from US. LINQ provides you a 1-800 number thro which you can call india. I know a lot of people trying hard to find free voip calls to india. I can assure you that there is not a single provider who is providing free voip international calls to india. So instead of fighting it out try LINQ, probably you may start saving on INDIA CALLS.

Incase you wanted to try their service. you can do so by CLICKING THIS LINQ. Please note that i am not associated with LINQ in anyway.

  • [...] least 2 locations in India daily. This made me look for cheaper calling options and I came across LINQ , Reliable IP Phone and Union Telecom USA . Even though each of them offered cheap calling option [...]

  • Hi Uday, useful post, however all these VOIP services seem to be useful from USA only. I live in Dubai, UAE. I use Yahoo Messenger to call any phone in India and it costs me $0.08 per minute. The clarity is very decent. This is far cheaper than what the Govt run telecom company charges here. Do you know of any similar service that charges lesser than $0.08 per minute? Most VOIP paid services are blocked by Govt here. (including Skype) . Luckily Yahoo messenger is spared.

  • Thanks Vinay, I know that Dubai is very restricted when it comes to VOIP. Will let you know if i happen to know any. Meanwhile try voipguides.blogspot.com
